challenge

When the student halls Austin & Angela on Hope University’s Liverpool Childwall site were due for refurbishment AAC Waterproofing were appointed as Principal Contractor, to carry out the re-roofing works and to manage other building renovation works as specified by the client.

our approach

The existing mineral surface bitumen felt roof coverings had begun to fail and were nearing the end of their serviceable life.

Having been identified before any serious water infiltration had occurred, the roofs were deemed suitable for overlay, and a refurbishment specification was provided by Protan. The Protan single-ply membrane was fully bonded to a 130mm PIR insulation board, which had been applied over the existing
roof covering. Protan coated metal edge trims completed the perimeters and standing seam effect décor strips applied to the roof areas to enhance the visual effect of these sloping roofs.

the result

Following successful completion of the works AAC were asked to continue on-site overseeing the replacement of all windows to the buildings as well as internal decoration and remediation works.
