Dream Home - Green Roof
challenge
The irregular roof outline, low-profile design, and varying parapet perimeter presented unique challenges for our team. The membrane had to be flawlessly installed to ensure 100% watertightness, as it would be buried under the vegetation covering. Additionally, the project demanded close collaboration with the small team of developers, builders, and property owners to meet their high specifications and create a harmonious blend with the rural surroundings.
our approach
To overcome the challenges, we meticulously executed our approach. Our selected waterproofing solution was Protan 1.8mm G membrane, which we mechanically fixed through rigid urethane insulation boards and a heavy-duty vapor control layer onto the previously installed marine plywood deck. Our highly skilled installers paid meticulous attention to detail, ensuring precise installation despite the irregular roof outline and generous deck falls.
We conducted rigorous inspections, including an electronic integrity test, to guarantee a completely watertight membrane. Following this, we installed Protan’s geo-textile protection fleece and a proprietary drainage layer. The green roof itself utilized a locally derived growing medium and biodiverse seeds, contributing to the preservation of the local ecosystem.
