AAC Waterproofing Restructuring Defied COVID-19 To Enjoy A Strong Financial Year!

Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, which left many UK businesses struggling, Anglesey-based AAC Waterproofing Ltd. defied the odds and delivered a robust financial performance. After facing financial difficulties in recent years, the company experienced a remarkable turnaround, which they attribute to a comprehensive restructuring and the strategic diversification of their services.

While many construction projects and housing renovations were delayed or canceled due to strict lockdowns and social distancing measures, AAC Waterproofing, a leader in strong waterproofing solutions, posted its most profitable year since 2014. The financial year 2019-2020 saw significant growth for the company, following a challenging 2018-2019 period that recorded a loss.

Since its establishment in the 1970s, AAC Waterproofing has become the premier flat roofing contractor in the North West. However, after facing tough financial years, the company initiated a full-scale restructuring in 2018. This overhaul included a detailed evaluation of its operations, focusing on both strengths and areas of improvement, along with a targeted expansion of its product offerings.

As part of this diversification, AAC introduced new products like the Single Ply PVC membrane (Protan) alongside its established EPDM membrane (Prelasti). Soon, they plan to add other innovative options such as Alwitra and Soprema single-ply membranes to their portfolio, enhancing their ability to offer tailored solutions to clients.

Leadership changes played a crucial role in the company’s resurgence. The restructuring brought in Andy Porter as the new Managing Director, tasked with optimizing operations, cutting costs, and boosting profitability. Joining him was Michael Gwynne, the newly appointed Marketing Manager, whose efforts focus on modernizing the company’s branding and marketing strategy. During this transition, Laura Hibbert, co-owner of AAC, returned as Financial Director to oversee the company’s financial health.

These strategic changes provided an immediate boost, enabling AAC Waterproofing to reverse its fortunes and set the stage for continued growth. As one of the UK’s leading strong waterproofing experts, AAC has successfully transformed thousands of residential and commercial properties since its founding in 1976. The company prides itself on delivering high-quality, bespoke solutions for each client’s unique needs.

To reinforce their commitment to excellence, AAC Waterproofing has maintained their ISO 9001 and 14001 accreditations, which demonstrate their dedication to quality, safety, and efficiency in every project they undertake.

Managing Director Andy Porter commented, “There’s no denying the pandemic has had a negative impact on businesses across the UK. At AAC Waterproofing, we’ve also felt this pressure, but we’re proud to have achieved one of our strongest financial years in a while. This success is a testament to our companywide restructuring and the diversification of our services, which have transformed the business and positioned us well for the future.”
